City- Costa Rica Tarrazu
-Referencing several sources regarding specialty coffees, I find a consensus among coffee gurus suggesting several areas of Costa Rica produce among the finest coffees of all noting three "Cs"- character, consistency, and completeness.
There are several reasons for this.
The region is blessed with volcanic soil and ideal drainage.
The country's coffee bean producers (most notably in the Tarrazu region) have a reputation for careful and expensive "wet"; processing of selected beans.
Costa Rican coffees tend to be more acidic than some, with chocolaty flavor notes & fruity undertones. Tarrazu is the 5th canton in the province of San Jose in Costa Rica.
Tarrazu is located about 70 kilometers south of the Capital San Jose, in a pristine valley surrounded by mountains that are part of the Talamanca Sierra in southern Costa Rica.
Downtown San Marcos is 1,350 meters above sea level but is surrounded by peaks as high as 3,000 meters above sea level.
Highland coffee is the main source of income of the local people and the province is well-known for its fine bright coffees. (Wikipedia)
